The Best Job in the World

Perhaps some of you have been following Tourism Queensland's intense campaign for the Best Job in the World.

Basically, they're going to pay someone approximately $100 000 to become an "island caretaker" on the beautiful Hamilton Island in Queensland, Australia.

The finalists for the job will fly to Australia tomorrow to be interviewed for the job in-person.

Among those finalists is Canada's Erik Rolfsen.

Canadians (and even non-Canadians) - let's rally behind him! Check out his blog here and show him your support:

Architect Studio 3D

In keeping with the theme of architecture....

Here is another cool thing I discovered while searching for interesting structures online for my grade 3 science class:

Now I am not much of a gamer, but when I found this I wasted an entire afternoon building houses for picky clients instead of finding more resources for my classes. I'm just sayin'.

I did introduce this to my students. A few of them have become addicts. I'm sure the parents of those children adore me right now.

Anyway, try it here: Architect Studio 3D

Trust me, you'll feel like a real live architect! It's too cool - albeit dorky.

Strange Buildings of the World

I've been teaching my grade 3 science students about structures. I really wanted to blow their mind with some of the architecture that is out there, and this is just one of the things I found to do it:

This is Why You're Fat

"This is Why You're Fat" is a website that collects pictures of the shock-inducing, disgusting concoctions that people are putting in their mouths these days. Sometimes it gets horrifyingly gross. If anything will make you want to eat healthy - it's this.

(Though, I did eat 2 big nasty cheeseburgers for supper today... I'm sure my heart hates me.) Hey, heart! Trust me! It could be worst buddy....

Susan Boyle - 47 and Viral

If you haven't seen this video yet, then you haven't been on the internet as much as you should have this week!

At first sight Susan seems frumpy, outdated, and even somewhat unkempt.
Then she opens her mouth.

The Plan

Have you ever found yourself sitting at your computer with the world at your fingertips, and no idea what to do?

Even with the Facebooks and Twitters of the world, sometimes the internet seems so vast that it becomes daunting. Where can you go when Facebook gets boring and there are no new interesting Tweets on Twitter? What can you do when the e-mail has been checked, the work is complete, and you have a bit of time on your hands?

Once in awhile I find something interesting on the internet that I would like to pass on to others. Sometimes it's a video that has gone viral. Sometimes it's a site that is so new and obscure that very few people have heard of it.

This website is a sister site of my personal blog: What in the World? and will eventually evolve into a collection of the hidden and not-so-hidden gems of the internet!

So, if you've ever felt dwarfed by the internet and just don't know where to surf next, stop on by and see if you can find something that interests you here!
